Leadership Training

“I had been conducting for nearly 20 years when it suddenly dawned on me that the conductor of an orchestra does not make a sound…his true power derives from his ability to make other people powerful”   – Ben Zander
  • Human Motivation and Behavior: Korn-Ferry research has identified three essential motives that drive behavior on the job: Achievement, Affiliation and Social Power. Studies show that great leaders are highly motivated by Socialized Power which is about empowering others and making them strong and more effective in their job roles.
  • Leadership Styles and Competencies: Korn-Ferry has found that there are six styles of leadership that managers use to motivate, reward, direct and develop others. There is no one best style of leadership, each has its strengths and its limits. Still, the most effective leaders are adept at all six styles and can use each when appropriate.
  • The Leader as Coach: A coach supports people on their journey between who they are and who they want to be, helping them to explore their true potential. Coaching is a critical skill for leaders who are trying to build organizational capacity.
  • The Leader as Facilitator: When leaders are skilled facilitators they help people increase their ability to be effective in working with others. Facilitative leaders help work groups by diagnosing individual motivations and strengths, assessing the groups present ways of working together, and initiating new ways of interacting to move the group’s closer to their goals.
  • Emotional and Social Intelligence: In today’s working environment, high levels of emotional intelligence are what differentiate the best leaders. Outstanding leaders have the capacity for recognizing their own feelings and those of others, for motivating themselves, for managing their own emotions well and in their relationships. The good news is that emotional intelligence can be learned!
